Equiano

What Equiano went through, and saw was unimaginable. Putting hundreds to people in a ship for months is wrong and hurting them for not eating or for doing nothing is even more wrong. The images and experience that Equiano went through is to hard to imagine. Slave trade should have never happened. Just because of their color, that does not the white colonists could treat someone like this. They probably treated pack mule better than the slaves. What the colonists do not realize is that the slaves are people as well. If you hit them, they will cry and if you cut them they will bleed just like everyone else. When I observed the pictures of what Equiano saw when he was first taken away from his home, the first thing that came to my mind was how could they possibly put all these people in a tiny ship. From inside the ship (lower deck), that picture reminded me of the holocaust. Everyone was so skinny, stacked on top of each other, and was just looking so depressed as if they wanted someone to kill them and take them out of their misery. There was absolutely no room to even get up and walk about 1 feet. What the slave traders did was inhumane. How could a person do something so horrible, disgusting, and wrong. And most importantly, how could others let this from happening. If the colonists did something, they could have slowed down the process of slave trades. Owning slaves in general is wrong, and the cruelty that was done to the innocent beings was not tolerable in any standards.
